Business Waste
The Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) collection program helps businesses dispose of small amounts of hazardous waste, such as solvents, paints, used oil, and fuels.
Eligible Businesses
- Businesses located in Washington County that generate less than 220 pounds (22.5 gallons) of hazardous waste per month.
- Participants must self-haul their waste. This is not a pickup program.
- Small Quantity Generators and Large Quantity Generators are not eligible. For licensing information, see hazardous waste generator webpage.
Eligible Wastes
- Hazardous wastes: solvents, cleaners, paints, etc.
- Universal wastes: batteries, bulbs, aerosols
- Used oil and oil-related wastes (under 30 gallons)
- NO infectious wastes or pharmaceuticals
- NO electronics or appliances
Disposal Costs
There is a $20 minimum fee + waste disposal fees. Upon drop-off you will receive an invoice to be paid within 30 days.
No appointment is required, but calling 651-275-7475 in advance will expedite your visit.

Open to residents of Washington, Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, and Scott counties.
Safe packing and transport of hazardous materials is important to prevent problems such as chemical reactions and spills.
- Select an appropriate container that is sealed, labeled, and leak-proof.
- Segregate incompatible chemicals. (Ex: Don’t place acids with bases.)
- Transport bulbs in original or similar containers to prevent damage. Don't tape them together.
- Tape both ends of batteries or separate into bags.
- Secure the load.
Please bring your hazardous waste generator license number when dropping off at an Environmental Center.
