Household Sharps

Sharps like syringes, needles, and lancets from households are accepted at an Environmental Center. Loose sharps are not accepted. 

Please follow these preparation steps:

• Do not place sharps in the trash or recycling cart.
• Place lancets, empty needles, and syringes in a rigid plastic container with a screw-on cap (like an empty detergent bottle). Label it “Sharps”.
• Bring your sharps container to an Environmental Center. Keep sharps containers separate from all other waste.
• When you arrive, inform staff you have sharps. You will place your container in the collection bin.
• Visit the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s website to learn more about proper needle/syringe disposal.
