[ARCHIVED] Go Orange Day, April 17, to support work zone safety

NationalWorkZoneAwarenessWeek_WebsiteImage

Washington County fully recognizes the critical importance related to work zone safety. Each day hundreds of roadway maintenance professionals, governmental and private, take substantial risks to ensure Washington County roadways and infrastructure are in optimum condition. We can all be part of the effort to facilitate the safety of both roadway professionals and roadway users by adhering to posted signage and work zone traffic control.

Please take a moment to visualize yourself working in one of these work zones. Inattentive driving and excessive speed through work zones heighten the risk to roadway workers. Please exercise extreme caution when driving through work zones. The criminal and civil consequences are substantial in the event your vehicular operation results in a crash, fatality, or injury.

Washington County would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you in advance for your concerted effort in ensuring worker safety. The Washington County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution recognizing National Work Zone Awareness Week at its April 9 meeting.

National Work Zone Awareness Week has been a successful campaign spreading awareness for work zone safety across the United States. The success of NWZAW is the result of participation from organizations and individuals just like you.

Participate

  • Wednesday, April 17: Go Orange Day - show your support for work zone safety by wearing orange.
  • Friday, April 19: Moment of Silence - remember the men and women whose lives were lost in a work zone incident.
