Motorists and visitors traveling on westbound Interstate 94 from the Minnesota/Wisconsin border will not have access to the St. Croix Rest Area starting Saturday, June 24, as part of the I-94 Oakdale to St. Croix construction project, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 24, the rest area ramps to and from westbound I-94 will be closed through 6 a.m. Friday, July 14, as crews resurface the pavement. Truck parking will also be unavailable during this time.
Motorists and freight haulers should plan their stops in advance. The closest Welcome Center/Rest Area on westbound I-94 prior to crossing the border into Minnesota is west of Menomonie, Wis.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
MnDOT will be resurfacing the pavement and making other improvements to I-94 between Highway 120/Century Avenue and the St. Croix River through fall 2024. The work will improve safety, traffic flow, and ride smoothness.
