Become a Recycling Ambassador

Inspire your community to reduce waste by becoming a Recycling Ambassador! Recycling Ambassadors take a six-week training program to learn more about food waste, composting, environmental health, waste systems and general recycling. Recycling Ambassadors will have opportunities to volunteer and encourage others to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Classes are held on Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in September/October. Classes are virtual, except for in-person tours scheduled for Sept. 10 and Oct. 1.

Take the Climate Action Survey

We want to hear from you! Washington County is creating a Climate Action Plan to guide how the county will address climate change. This survey will help us better understand your priorities as a Washington County community member for future climate action. It will take 5 – 7 minutes to complete.

Stick It To Sharps

Syringe needles do not belong in your trash or recycling. Place used syringes in a sturdy container (like a detergent bottle) with the cap screwed on. Label it “SHARPS” and drop it off at a Washington County Environmental Center. Let staff know you have sharps for disposal when you arrive.
