The Historic Courthouse, completed in 1870, has a variety of repairs needed to maintain the building, as identified by a recent county study. The grant, which will be received over two years, will assist in needed repairs to the doors and windows of the building. The Historic Courthouse, at the intersection of Pine and Third streets in Stillwater, saw 9,109 visitors in 2018, some of whom went on 779 tours. Space in the building was rented by members of the community 73 times during the year, and was used for a number of public programs. It is also home to two local organizations that rent space in the building. The county has recently surveyed the condition of the building’s roof, bricks and mortar, and windows. Repairs to the building’s windows are estimated to cost $81,975, and window replacement is estimated at $260,260. The remainder of the funds needed for the renovations will come from the courthouse’s restoration fund.
