Obtain Copies of Marriage Certificates
Records from 1870 to present are available for issuance.
Marriage certificates are on file with the county in which the couple applied for their marriage license regardless of where the ceremony took place.
The officiate performing your marriage ceremony must complete the marriage certificate and file it with our office within five days of the ceremony. Upon receipt, a certified copy will be mailed to you.
Viewing records for genealogical research can be done at the Government Center during regular business hours.
Same Day Service
Certified copies are available in person at the Washington County Government Center in Stillwater and the Washington County License Centers and Services Centers. Requests for verification of no marriage require a form of identification and must be submitted in-person (mail-in forms not accepted).
